What Impacts A Driveway Paving Project Timeline?

Paving a driveway is a more complex process than many people tend to think. There are many variables to take into consideration when planning and executing a proper paving job. One of the questions our team is often asked is how long it will take to pave a new driveway. In this month’s post, we will break down the timeline of an average paving project and how that timetable can be affected by outside circumstances.

One aspect that greatly impacts how long a paving project will take is the length, shape, and slope of the driveway. A driveway that is wide, long, sloped, and has winding turns will take significantly longer to pave than a driveway that is either a square lot or a short straight path. Weather also plays a critical role in how long the new driveway will take to set. Optimal paving conditions are typically during the summer months when there are warm, dry days that are conducive to allowing the asphalt to properly settle.

In addition to affecting the time it takes to pave the area, a long winding driveway also takes longer to properly dig up and dispose of. Any turns or sloping of the driveway will also take more time to pave due to the extra planning that needs to happen to ensure that the area is paved correctly to guarantee the longevity of the asphalt.
