Although commonly overlooked, it can be extremely helpful for sealcoating preparation to edge your lawn around the perimeter of your driveway or parking lot. This will help ensure that the edge of your asphalt is accessible for the sealcoat to properly adhere to the entire surface area.

The next steps should be taken in their respective order, typically the day before or the morning of your sealcoating project. First, make sure that your sprinkler system is off to avoid getting the driveway wet, since a wet driveway will delay the entire process by not allowing the sealcoating to properly adhere to the asphalt.
